The Graduate Program in Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry of São Carlos (IQSC) was founded in 1971 and since then has trained more than 1,000 masters and 600 doctors. The Program develops basic and applied research in many areas of chemistry, with emphasis on three areas of concentration:

  • Physicochemical;
  • Analytical and Inorganic Chemistry;
  • Organic and Biological Chemistry.

The research is carried out by around 60 advisors, 80 postdoctoral researchers and 330 postgraduate students, who have at their disposal a modern equipment park, a well-structured library, workshops and an analytical center. In addition to tradition, one of the highlights of the program is its international character, as it receives many students from different countries and also receives frequent visits from scientists from the best centers in the world.

In addition, several researchers who are included in the program are involved in initiatives with a high international profile and are developing research in related areas, such as education, pharmacy, physics, dentistry, medicine, engineering and biology. The program has a maximum score (grade 7) in the national assessment carried out by CAPES, an agency of the Ministry of Education.
