The Postgraduate Program in Pneumology Senso Estrito of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo was accredited in 1982 and comprises a set of scheduled activities, monitored by a supervisor, which include and privilege teaching and research, always seeking to integrate the knowledge. It must be understood as a system of intellectual formation and, at the same time, of knowledge production in each area of ​​knowledge. This program is based at the Instituto do Coração (InCor) of the Hospital das Clínicas of FMUSP.

To achieve these objectives, the program in Pulmonology welcomes qualified medical professionals and individuals from other professional backgrounds with an interest in the respiratory area as students. The program is characterized by high quality scientific production, and which is currently investing in increasing its internationalization. Currently, we have bilingual disciplines with foreign collaborating professors, undergraduate students from abroad doing scientific initiation, in addition to students doing part of their doctorate here in the program and part at the university of origin located outside Brazil. Our students do “sandwich” doctorates in important research centers abroad, in addition to participating in double degree programs.

We have 24 guiding professors, and we are very well evaluated externally, and in the last 4 evaluations we obtained a score of 6 from Capes. in addition to students doing part of their doctorate here in the program and part at the university of origin located outside Brazil. Our students do “sandwich” doctorates in important research centers abroad, in addition to participating in double degree programs.
