The Graduate Program in Naval and Ocean Engineering (PPGEN) aims to train qualified professionals to work in research and development and/or teaching activities associated mainly with the four lines of research that currently structure the program, namely:

  • Ocean Structures and Structural Integrity
  • Hydrodynamics, Dynamics and Control of Ocean Systems
  • Design of Ships and Ocean Systems, Reliability and Risk Analysis
  • Maritime and River Transport, Port Planning and Logistics
  • Digital Technologies Integrated to the Sustainable Use of Ocean Resources

To promote these objectives, the program has an excellent teaching and research infrastructure. This structure includes recently renovated and equipped classrooms, an exclusive study room for postgraduate students, a computer room and a library with an excellent collection and constant updating.

In addition to the institutional support of the University of São Paulo, the strong and constant interaction of the Department of Naval and Ocean Engineering with various industrial sectors allows this academic infrastructure to be complemented by a set of specialized research laboratories, structured through funding from development and industry. These research centers are widely recognized in their areas of activity and work together with different national and international teaching and research institutions. By housing most of the students involved in the program, they create a motivating environment with state-of-the-art tools for the development of their studies and research.
