The Postgraduate Program in Philology and Portuguese Language at the University of São Paulo offers  stricto sensu academic postgraduate courses  at the Master's and Doctorate levels.

Its main objective is to guide, prepare and train researchers who seek scientific improvement and professors who wish to work in higher-level institutes or centers and universities. 

Created in 1971, the Program, historically, has been responsible for the qualification of professors who work in important graduate programs in Literature and Linguistics throughout the country.

The program's research and training activities take the Portuguese language as their object of study, approached from two perspectives: the philological and the linguistic. The Program's professors work in six lines of research, developing projects and leading research groups with national and international projection and an interdisciplinary research nucleus.
