The Computational Physics course trains professionals who are fully qualified to carry out academic research in any area of physics, with the advantage of a solid foundation in computing. For those who follow an academic career, this will allow for a much more efficient use of computational methods. At the same time, the performance of graduates in the sectors of industry, technology, finance and services is greatly favored, not only by mastering computational techniques, but also by their capacity for abstraction/generalization and their focus on problem solving, typical characteristics of the job, physics research, objective thinking for task organization.

The Bachelor's Degree in Computational Physics at IFSC proposes to combine a complete education in Physics with the knowledge and application of several computational tools. In the course, the ability to code and solve physical problems is reinforced by the logical thinking developed in programming activities and carrying out computational projects, so that learning is done “in the first person”. The focus is on owning computing resources in their entirety, rather than thinking of them as off-the-shelf products, packages, or applications. Such an approach enriches the training of students and provides a more effective and direct way of learning.
