The Graduate Program in Oceanography (PPGO) is linked to IOUSP and offers Strictu-Sensu Master's and Doctorate courses. The program is the result of the merger of the three programs offered until 2010 (Biological Oceanography, Chemical and Geological Oceanography and Physical Oceanography) and inherits the history and tradition of more than 40 years of postgraduate studies at IOUSP, having awarded more than 700 degrees (approx. 500 masters and 260 doctors).

The notices of the selection process are published at least 30 days in advance. The selection process for the Master takes place once a year, usually between the months of October and November. Admission to the Doctorate follows the Public Notice of continuous flow.
