The Italian Language, Literature and Culture program aims to develop in-depth studies of the Italian language, literature and culture, especially in its interface with the Brazilian language, literature and culture and the training of specialists in Italian language and literature, researchers, translators, cultural operators and, above all, training of teachers, including for higher education.

Historically, the program has been dedicated to developing research on the language and culture of Italian immigration in Brazil and the study of the linguistic and cultural characteristics of the Italian community in São Paulo, capital and countryside. It is also dedicated to the translation of literary texts and their reception; dissemination of the Italian language, culture and literature in the Brazilian context through publications, scientific events, conferences and promotes increasingly qualified teaching through research in the area of ​​teaching and learning foreign languages. The program also aims to contribute to the dissemination of Brazilian and Italian-Brazilian culture in Italy through the exchange of teachers and students, publications and conferences.

The Program's area of ​​concentration is Italian Language, Literature and Culture, considered in their relations with Brazilian culture. A parallel objective is the study of the Brazilian and Italian-Brazilian presence in Italian culture.
