The master's degree in environmental health and occupational health from the UdeM School of Public Health (ESPUM) aims to train scientists who will contribute to characterizing, evaluating and interpreting the relationships between the environment and human health. Discover how to provide solutions to problems related to the impact of various aggressors encountered in the environment such as toxic substances found in environments such as outdoor air, indoor air, water, food, soil and the working environment.

This program is aimed at holders of an undergraduate degree in basic, biomedical or natural sciences, engineering, human or animal health sciences, as well as people with a wide variety of backgrounds. It is also aimed at professional staff wishing to progress in their career. This training is ideal for people interested in the interface between health and the environment and who wish to get involved in a career focused on the health of populations, including that of workers.

Several paths or modalities are possible: with dissertation, internship or supervised work. Master's degrees with internship or supervised work have 5 options. If you wish to do supervised work outside the theme of the option in which you are registered, you must receive the approval of the program committee.

To be eligible as a regular student, the candidate must meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Required diplomas and admission thresholds: Quebec

To meet the Université de Montréal average of 3.0 out of 4.3, candidates from this province must meet the following requirements:

Accepted diploma: Baccalaureate, Bachelor; duration of 3 years, or other undergraduate degree deemed equivalent.

Conditions specific to this program

To be eligible as a regular student for the master's degree in environmental and occupational health, the candidate must:

  • meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
  • hold an undergraduate degree in a field of health sciences, biological sciences, chemistry or a related field or hold a diploma deemed equivalent for the Toxicology, Risk Analysis and Health Hygiene options work, in a field of health sciences or in an appropriate discipline such as biology, planning, geography or law or hold a diploma considered equivalent for the Environment, health and disaster management and Environmental health options worldwide
  • have obtained, in the 1st cycle, an average of at least 3.0 out of 4.3 (or the equivalent) or the average required by the original university for admission to a 2nd cycle program, if it is higher
