The master's degree in health services administration from the UdeM School of Public Health (ESPUM) is the only program offering comprehensive training in all the functions performed by managers of health establishments. This program aims to train leaders who contribute to the performance of organizations with the aim of improving the health of populations. This is the perfect training for those who wish to pursue a stimulating career in management, analysis, consulting or planning or who wish to enter a doctorate in public health.

General eligibility conditions

To be eligible as a regular student, the candidate must meet the general eligibility conditions (section II) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Required diplomas and admission thresholds: Quebec

To meet the Université de Montréal average of 3.0 out of 4.3, candidates from this province must meet the following requirements:

Accepted diploma: Baccalaureate, Bachelor; duration of 3 years, or other undergraduate degree deemed equivalent.

  • Higher Technology School: 3.0/4.3
  • HEC Montreal: 3.0/4.3
  • McGill University: 3.0/4.0
  • Polytechnique Montréal: 2.75/4.0

Conditions specific to this program

To be eligible as a regular student for the Master of Health Services Administration, the candidate must:

  • meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
  • hold an undergraduate degree from the University of Montreal or a degree deemed equivalent
  • have obtained, in the 1st cycle, an average of at least 3.2 out of 4.3 or the equivalent
For the options system management, quality and patient safety management and general requirements and additional information:

  • have taken a biostatistics course in the last five years. In the absence of this course, the student will have to register for three additional credits, or take the course: MSO 6060 Basic concepts in biostatistics or equivalent, at the start of their studies.
Work experience is an asset.

The candidate must have a good knowledge of spoken and written French. The candidate must, if the School requires it, pass a French as a foreign language test. They must present a result of at least B2 in the DELF, TCF or TEF, which are tests based on the skill levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(CEFR), in oral comprehension, written comprehension and written production.

The candidate must have a good knowledge of written English (reading ability).
