Develop critical reflection about the theoretical and philosophical foundations of social work, the principles and methods of practice, as well as the institutional conditions of this practice. The master's degree also allows you to acquire technical and analytical skills specific to a specific approach or field of social work through a field internship.

Two methods are offered:

To meet the Université de Montréal average of 3.0 out of 4.3, candidates from this province must meet the following requirements:

Accepted diploma: Baccalaureate, Bachelor; duration of 3 years, or other undergraduate degree deemed equivalent.

Conditions specific to this program

To be eligible as a regular student for the Master of Social Work, the candidate must:

  • meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
  • either hold an undergraduate degree specialized in social service or social work or provide evidence of recognized training
  • equivalent and have obtained in the 1st cycle an average of at least 3.3 out of 4.3 (or the equivalent)
  • either have successfully completed a preparatory year in social service or social work with an average of at least 3.0 out of 4.3 (or the equivalent) or the average required by the original university for admission to a social work program 2nd cycle, if higher
  • either hold a DESS in social work with an internship with an average of 3.0 out of 4.3
