Conditions specific to this program

To be eligible as a regular student in the Ph.D. (Biblical Studies) program, the candidate must:

  • meet the general eligibility conditions (section XX) of the Educational Regulations of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies;
  • hold an MA (theology - biblical studies) from the Faculty of Theology and Religious Sciences or demonstrate training deemed equivalent;
  • have obtained an average of at least 3.3 out of 4.3 or the equivalent in the 2nd cycle;
  • demonstrate knowledge of historical-critical or synchronic methods of exegesis, failing which the student may be required to take the course THB 6110 Historical-critical Method or THB 6120 Synchronic Methods, as a complementary course to the program;
  • demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the French and English languages ​​as well as any other language, ancient or modern, deemed necessary for the pursuit of their research; demonstrate, in particular, a thorough knowledge of biblical Hebrew or Greek, failing which the student may be required to take the course THB 6130 Advanced Biblical Hebrew or THB 6140 Advanced Biblical Greek, as a complementary course to the program.
