The master's degree in chemistry is research training in a particular field of chemistry. It includes advanced courses (20% of credits) and a significant research component (80% of credits). Learning is active and takes place mainly in the research laboratory. It involves planning, carrying out and interpreting original research experiments; improving scientific knowledge; and the development of critical qualities. It takes the form of writing a dissertation. The master's degree in chemistry lasts on average 2 years.

The MSc in Chemistry is a research program that can be customized according to your aspirations and is versatile enough for the career you envision. The diversity of career paths requires solid basic training and requires great flexibility on your part. All areas of chemistry are covered, whether in environmental chemistry, energy, spectroscopy, organic, bio-organic or inorganic synthesis, or even physical or theoretical chemistry. You are integrated into a research group from the start of your schooling and learn to carry out laboratory research independently. The projects take place in close collaboration between you, the research team and your research director, and you benefit from a personalized program. You have 3 courses to take and must write a master's thesis; This dissertation is evaluated by a jury, but there is no defense of the dissertation. Students who wish can make a direct transition to the doctoral program, after one year in the master's program, without having to write a dissertation.

To access the master's degree in chemistry, you must have completed a North American baccalaureate or an M1 level in the European system, during which you will have completed research internships. You must have research experience, wish to continue your studies and aspire to be a leader of tomorrow in your field of chemistry research. You like working in the laboratory or with instrumentation in a specific field of chemistry that excites you. You would like to acquire research training to work in the industrial environment or even turn to college education. Some students also choose to pursue doctoral studies, either in the same or a related field.
