By virtue of the need to study social development from the phenomena of tradition, evolution, preservation, modernization, globalization and diversity of expressive culture based on music, singing, dance and other forms of expressive culture, it is proposed the urgent training of high-level researchers in the field of Anthropology of Music that can incorporate applicants who come from diverse disciplines, to analyze the linguistic, social, ethnic, historical and cultural phenomena of music and singing of oral tradition, of traditional dance expression, of the performative contexts of music, song and dance, of their symbolism and meanings, and to understand how they affect contemporary man in his culture, identity, religiosity, emotion, corporality and thought.   This postgraduate course is interdisciplinary in nature, where the study of ethnic and popular music converges from the intellectual history of Ethnomusicology, Social and Cultural Anthropology, Linguistic Anthropology, History, and Archaeology. It would be aimed at the in-depth review of the most important world classical literature in ethnomusicology and anthropology that has raised paradigms and different directions in research on human studies; as well as the new ethnomusicological and anthropological literature, that is, from the perspective of native and/or regional, urban and rural cultures, both from Latin America and from other nations.
