The Master's Degree in Environmental Health Sciences is the first Network Master's Degree of the University of Guadalajara. It is developed jointly between the University Center for Biological and Agricultural Sciences (CUCBA) and the University Center for Health Sciences (CUCS) under postgraduate coordination. It began in 1995 with the support of the Pan American Center for Human Ecology and Health, of the Pan American Health Organization (ECO-OPS).


It is currently a postgraduate with quality registration in the National Quality Postgraduate Program (PNPC). Consolidated level.


This postgraduate course has an interdisciplinary training model that addresses the health of human communities and ecosystems, as complex and dynamic systems. Analyzes the interactions of communities, recognizes stress and degradation factors as unbalancing mechanisms of ecosystems and landscapes, health, quality of life and sustainable development. It generates knowledge and proposals to slow down the trend of degradation, prevent and control threats to human health and restore the conditions that maintain balance and give certainty to communities and territories to make them habitable and sustainable.


The Program trains researchers with an interdisciplinary theoretical and methodological vanguard perspective, with a high social commitment, who critically incorporate recent advances in the field worldwide, while opening spaces for the study of regional perspectives and experiences that represent creative and consistent responses. to the environmental reality and social contexts.


It is a two-year program that requires the dedication of students from 30 to 35 hours. a week.


The Coordination of the program is shared between the CUCS and the CUCBA. Activities related to the administrative management of program students are concentrated in the latter, and the General Coordination corresponds to CUCS, which is shared with a coordinator from CUCBA.


The academic activities are developed with the participation of academic staff from four university centers of the Jalisco University Network and invited external professors. Students go to the CUCS and CUCBA facilities for the development of curricular courses.


The annual work plan is established according to the priorities defined by the Academic Board, the highest planning and decision-making body.
