The Master in Environmental Education (MAEA) arises in the midst of international and regional environmental meetings (in Ibero-America, in the 1990s) that demanded the specialization of professionals whose intervention focused on the production of environmental training processes to face and transform the challenging context of environmental deterioration. This training must take into account the particularity of the ecosystems, as well as the local socio-cultural characteristics, determined by the common historical processes in Latin America.

So the distance modality was considered, from the beginning of this postgraduate course, as a condition of training to enable the exchange of experiences and favor discussion, especially in the Latin American region.

This master's degree is the second to be founded in the country and the only one in the distance modality, assuming the training of cadres in Mexico and abroad, from its biannual calls.
