The Doctorate in Sciences in Biotechnological Processes (entrance modality with a master's degree)   was opened in 1993.


This program trains high-level human resources, and through its research, generates innovative technologies to address and respond to the country's problems, in fields related to the production, transformation and conservation of agro-food, chemical-pharmaceutical and biological products, as well as attention to the environmental impact that industries have on ecosystems.
The lines of Generation and Application of Knowledge are:

  • Environmental
  • Biotechnology - Biomedical
  • Biotechnology - Food
  • Biotechnology - Microbial Biotechnology

Researchers committed to the area of ​​research and training of human resources belong to the postgraduate course. There are 14 full-time professors and 6 part-time professors. It should be noted that teachers also have projects linked to the industry.
In addition, the postgraduate course is supported by 6 laboratories where highly relevant research is carried out. 
The admission process is carried out in two calendars (A and B) a year.

Admission requirements

  • Possess a bachelor's degree in careers related to postgraduate studies; said affinity will be determined by the Academic Board.
  • Original official certificate that accredits a minimum average of eighty.
  • Submit a letter stating the commitment to devote full time to postgraduate activities.
  • Present and pass a TOEFL ITP English exam with a minimum of 337 points, or the European Framework of Reference and certify obtaining level A 2.
  • Submit and pass the admission exam or pass the propaedeutic courses in the event that the postgraduate program has them.
  • Carry out an interview before the Academic Board of the Doctorate in Sciences in biotechnological processes and obtain an approving result, verifiable by official letter issued by the Academic Board / Postgraduate Coordinator, and those established by the call.
