The Department of Pathology and Parasitology aspires to be a leading center of excellence in teaching, research, training, diagnosis and consultancy in animal, avian and zoonotic diseases. The objectives of the department are:

  • To produce competent veterinary graduate with enriched knowledge of veterinary pathology and parasitology.
  • To develop and review outcome based curriculum in consultation with expert, stakeholders, taking into account the changing trends in the all the sectors of veterinary education.
  • To improve the facilities and support for teaching, research and diagnostic services
  • To acquire the new research grants, conduct research, publish the regularresearch paper and conference presentation
  • To enhance staff competence through soft skill training, seminar, workshop and motivationannually.
  • To conduct the need base pathological and parasitological activities for social well-being.
By implementing the above objectives, the department will contribute to the improvement of animal health and productivity, human health as a concept of one health, poverty alleviation and environmental sustainability. The department is committed to produce competent, competitive and professional graduates.

DVM degree has 5 academic years comprised of 10 semesters including an internship. Each academic year has two semesters: The January-June semester and the July-December semester.

This department deals with different pathological conditions and diseases of animal and poultry with their etiology, pathogenesis, pathology, clinical signs, diagnosis and prevention & control.It also includes necropsy, analysis of organs, tissue, and body fluids of animal and poultry. Veterinary Parasitology deals with different aspects of helminthology, protozoology and entomology which are of interest to veterinary practitioners and others with a special interest in parasitology.
MS degree in 2 fields (Microbiology and Veterinary Public Health and Food Hygiene).Graduate students have to earn 40.0 credits in three semesters to access the MS degree but may extend up to 5 semesters. General Pathology and Oncology, Systemic Pathology, Pathology of Infectious Diseases, Avian Pathology, Clinical Pathology, General Parasitology and Malacology, Nemathelminthes and Platyhelminthes, Entomology, Protozoology.
