Welcome to the department of Animal Science and Nutrition is one of the full-fledged departments from the beginning of the establishment of the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Science. This department comprises with two major disciplines of livestock production; one is “Animal Science” and another is “Animal Nutrition”. The courses offered from the department are related with fundamental and applied knowledge of Animal Science  production, processing, Animal Nutrition, Feed Science and Technology,environment& waste management, meat science, wool, hides and skins and technology. Along with teaching activities of under-graduates for the DVM degree; the department also engaged with research, consultancy, extension, and other extracurricular activities. Research activities are funded by IRT, UGC, MOST, and other national and international organisations. The department is committed to provide a quality education, a need- based research program for producing Animal Scientist and Animal Nutritionist for local and global job market.

Undergraduate degrees of various faculties at HSTU of 4 academic years comprising 8 semesters except for DVM and Bachelor of Architecture degree. DVM degree has 5 academic years comprised of 10 semesters including an internship. Each academic year has two semesters: The January-June semester and the July-December semester.

Undergraduate research, teaching and extension projects are available for juniors and seniors who are interested in pursuing their interests in these areas.
Animal Science is the biological science and management of domestic Livestock, including beef cattle, horses, sheep, goat, swine and companion animals. Students learn the science, art and practical methods of caring for, from raw material to feed technology, feed formulation based on production phase of animal, feed processing, improving and managing livestock and companion animals.
