There is growing demand for highly skilled statisticians in the 21st Century, and the Department of Statistics, Faculty of Sciences at HSTU is producing the professionals who can take on these challenges and the new ones that will emerge.
Since it was established in 1988, there have been many exciting and productive times in the Department.At present, the Department offers Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Honoursin Statistics undergraduate programmes and two research postgraduate programmes leading to Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees.
The Department has accommodated high profile faculty members with diverse research areas including statistical theory, big data, biostatistics, epidemiology, design of agricultural experiments, applied econometrics and stochastic analysis, data mining and statistical learning, support vector machine, multivariate data Analysis, data sciences and other areas of cross-disciplinary research.
