D epartment Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)started its academic activities from July 13, 2016, though its history goes back to 2004.

During the establishment of the faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) in 2004, two departments named as Computer Science and Information Technology (CIT) and Computer Engineering (CEN) were formed in order to offer the major courses for Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering degree. Later on in July 13, 2016 both of the departments were unified to as Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) in order to accelerate the advancement in the academic journey.

This department offers the major courses for B.Sc. (Engineering) in CSE degree and conducts a few courses for the other two degrees offered from this Faculty. Department of CSE offers courses in the following faculties in different degrees based on their curricula; Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Business Studies, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Fisheries, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Social Science and Humanities.

The department of CSE has started the research based M.Sc. in CSE program from the semester of July-December, 2019.

 This department of CSE is run by a group of talented, young, energetic, student-friendly, enthusiastic and skilled faculties to spread the knowledge of Computer Science, ComputerEngineeringand Information Technology. Currently, there are twenty faculty members (including study leave)  in the  D epartment. This department is contributing in teaching, learning, research and industries by producing quality graduates with high morals for global development.

There are two student organisations under this department, CSE Club and Programmers’ Arena, to promote the knowledge sharing environment for the students of B.Sc. (Engineering) in CSE.

In addition to the academic programs and research activities, this Department also offers a variety of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, such as programming contest, project showcasing, gaming contest, workshop, seminar, cultural activities as well as outdoor game competition in association with the students’ organisations.

Undergraduate degrees of various faculties at HSTU of 4 academic years comprising 8 semesters except for DVM and Bachelor of Architecture degree. DVM degree has 5 academic years comprised of 10 semesters including an internship. Each academic year has two semesters: The January-June semester and the July-December semester.
