General eligibility conditions

To be eligible as a regular student, the candidate must meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Required diplomas and admission thresholds: Quebec

To meet the Université de Montréal average of 3.0 out of 4.3, candidates from this province must meet the following requirements:

Accepted diploma: Baccalaureate, Bachelor; duration of 3 years, or other undergraduate degree deemed equivalent.

  • Concordia University: 3.0/4.3
  • Higher Technology School: 3.0/4.3
  • HEC Montreal: 3.0/4.3
  • McGill University: 3.0/4.0
  • Polytechnique Montréal: 2.75/4.0
  • University of Sherbrooke: 3.0/4.3
  • Laval University: 3.0/4.3
  • Universities of Quebec: 3.2/4.3

Conditions specific to this program

To be eligible as a regular student for the master's degree in computer science, the candidate must:

  • meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI of the Educational Regulations) for graduate and postdoctoral studies
  • hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, or a diploma that adequately prepares them for the studies they want to undertake or provide proof of training deemed equivalent
  • have obtained, in the 1st cycle, an average of at least 3.0 out of 4.3 (or the equivalent) or the average required by the original university for admission to a 2nd cycle program, if it is higher
  • have already completed a minimum of 40 university course credits (or the equivalent) in computer science and mathematics, including courses in calculus, linear algebra, probability and statistics, data structures and algorithms; Otherwise, the Department may impose preparatory courses and complementary courses.

The DESS student in machine learning who has completed at least 2 courses while maintaining an average of at least 3.3 out of 4.3 can submit an application for admission to the master's degree.
