General eligibility conditions

To be eligible as a regular student, the candidate must meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Required diplomas and admission thresholds: Quebec

To meet the Université de Montréal average of 3.0 out of 4.3, candidates from this province must meet the following requirements:

Accepted diploma: Baccalaureate, Bachelor; duration of 3 years, or other undergraduate degree deemed equivalent.

Conditions specific to this program

To be eligible as a regular student for the MA (classical studies), the candidate must:

  • meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI of the Educational Regulations) for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
  • hold a specialized BA or a BA with a major in classical studies, or a diploma adequately preparing for the studies they wish to undertake, or attest to training deemed equivalent, depending on the option chosen
  • have obtained in the 1st cycle an average of at least 3.0 out of 4.3 or the equivalent
  • demonstrate good knowledge of French and English
  • Ancient History option: have a minimum of 15 credits in ancient Greek (including courses GRC1111, 1121) or in Latin (including courses LAT1111, 1121)
  • Classical Archeology option: have a minimum of 9 credits in ancient Greek (including courses GRC1111, 1121) or in Latin (including courses LAT1111, 1121)
  • Languages ​​and literatures option: have a minimum of 24 credits in ancient Greek (including courses GRC1111, 1121, 2011) or in Latin (including courses LAT1111, 1121, 2011).
