Law PhD (Porto)

The Doctoral Study Cycle in Law is composed of two phases: an academic phase (doctoral course), lasting one academic year, and the phase of preparation and submission of the doctoral thesis, lasting three academic years, totalling 240 ECTS. Three specialities are available, covering the following legal areas: Private Law; Public Law; Criminal Law. This cycle of studies enables doctoral students to carry out scientific research of excellence and to contribute to the development of the legal sciences, in classic and innovative themes, in national and international terms. Successful completion of this cycle of studies confers the academic degree of Doctor of Laws, with mention of the chosen area of specialisation.
