The training of social workers must be a comprehensive training that addresses both disciplinary, skills and attitudinal content that contribute to generating professionals who not only know how to do it, but also know the environment in which they work and are capable of critically analyzing it. Accordingly, the objectives of the Degree in Social Work are, among others, the following: work together with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities to assess their needs and circumstances; support people to be able to express their needs, points of view and circumstances; act in the resolution of situations of vulnerability, conflict, crisis, deficiencies or difficulties with people; show a critical understanding of how socio-structural imbalances, discrimination, oppression, social, political and economic injustices impact on human relationships and generate situations of discomfort; show knowledge of human behavior and the social environment with special emphasis on the person / environment relationship, life course development, interaction between biological, psychological, socio-structural and cultural factors in shaping human development and behavior; know the general structure, organization, benefits of the general and specialized social services existing in the different Autonomous Communities and in Europe; know the main trends in social policies, nationally and internationally, as well as their articulation; show mastery in the knowledge of group formation, programming techniques and instruments, group dynamics and group work techniques; handle with ease the theoretical foundations and practical applications of the main theories on social work; know the main strategies for conflict resolution through mediation; know the basic fundamentals of information and communication technologies in application to social work; promote social justice and sustainable development, defending and facilitating access; AND reflect on the existing relationships between the exercise of social work, social policies and the organic contexts where their work is carried out.

PostgraduateTo study at postgraduate level, you must have either a degree obtained from a Spanish university or an equivalent qualification. Applicants from within the European Higher Education Area must present the following documents:

  • Passport or equivalent identity document
  • Official academic certificate
  • University degree

Applicants from outside of the European Higher Education Area must also provide a certificate proving their previous studies qualify them for postgraduate study in their own country. This should be provided by the university you originally studied at.
