The study of History seeks a rational and critical knowledge of humanity's past in order to better understand the present and make it understandable to others, since it allows us to unravel the relationship that exists between the events and processes of the past and the problems of the present. Likewise, historical science contributes to uniting the community and generating civic awareness and appreciation for the past and its historical, cultural, artistic and archaeological heritage, while still serving, at the same time, to the recognition of the complexity and diversity of societies, cultures and systems of human values and, therefore, to the development of attitudes of tolerance and respect towards the different points of view that are derived from the diverse historical and cultural traditions. The academic field is not limited at all to the teaching task of its members, but with increasing vigor, universities are being asked for their active participation in the field of research and development (R&D). An increasingly notorious percentage of the budget allocated to financing public universities will be linked to the various research projects. The role that the field of research can play in applying for the degree in History is significant, the growing demand for graduates in History who wish to continue and complete their training by enrolling in Third Cycle studies, or in University Master's degrees, in order to to carry out the realization of his doctoral thesis.
