The Department of French welcomes students who wish to learn and perfect the language as well as pursue their studies in literature and linguistics. UNB offers a range of courses in French Canadian literature, cinema, and culture, emphasizing on Acadian and Québécois writers, as well as other Francophone literatures (i.e. France, Belgium, etc.). The linguistics courses explore the various expressions across French Canada. Students will enjoy work and volunteer opportunities in many sectors, i.e. francophone schools, library, community centers, health programs, etc. There are also opportunities to join French social or cinema clubs as well as undertaking travel-study in France. There is also an opportunity to undertake French teaching assistantships.
