This course trains high-level geochemists, geobiologists and specialists in geomaterials (resources, new materials, energy issues, etc.) who master the fundamentals of these disciplines and the various applications in the industrial world. The proposed training applies the concepts and tools of chemistry to the study of the Earth and the Universe. It is based on a good training in the physico-chemistry of matter, in order to better understand: • the nature and structure of chemical elements and their isotopes, • their arrangements from the atomic scale to a large scale (rock, river, continent..), and therefore the geological and anthropic processes. This training makes it possible to study processes as different as the history of the Earth (formation and age of the solar system).

This academic program is part of Université Paris Cité’s Graduate School of Innovative Materials, connecting master’s and doctoral courses with cutting-edge research laboratories. This interdisciplinary Graduate School, bringing together physics, chemistry, biology and medicine, offers students the opportunity to explore the creation of innovative materials to address new socio-economic challenges.
