KNU named after J.Balasagyn is implementing the following directions of Master’s degree 530400 "History":
- training of qualified specialists capable of carrying out innovative professional activities in the field of history and socio-humanitarian knowledge, education, science, culture, analytics and management in the study of the past of mankind, analysis of historical processes and phenomena, forecasting the actions of man, state and society, by forming universal and professional competencies that promote social mobility and sustainability in the labour market. As well as the formation of social and personal qualities of students: purposefulness, organisation, diligence, responsibility, citizenship, communicativeness, tolerance, increase of general culture.
The following disciplines are presented to choose:
• General History: Eastern Countries;
• General History: Western Countries;
• General History: History of the European Union and European Studies;
• General History: History of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Eurasian Studies;
• History of Kyrgyzstan;
• Ethnology; • Archaeology;
• Turkology;
• Arabistics;
• Source study, historiography and methods of historical research.
The fields of professional activity of graduates are education, science, management, culture, analytics.
Master's degree students are studying the following disciplines of the 530400 "History" in professional cycle: • Philosophy and methodology of science

The objects of professional activity of graduates are:
• historical sources and the information they contain about historical processes and phenomena in their socio-cultural, political and economic dimensions;
• different types of historical scientific texts - written, oral and virtual (including hypertext and textual elements of multimedia objects);
• socio-political, socio-cultural, socio-economic, ethno-political and ideological processes;
• oral and written communication;
• training, education, socialisation;
• documentation support of scientific and educational process;
• museum expositions and funds;
• archival holdings;
• databases;
• methods, tools and technologies of historical research.
Types of professional activities of graduates are:
• research; • pedagogical; • organisational and managerial; • cultural and educational; • expert-analytical.
Master's degree in the direction of training 530400 "History" should be able to solve the following tasks:
1) in research and development:
• preparation and conduct of research work in accordance with the profile of the Master's programme, analysis and generalisation of the results of scientific research on the basis of modern interdisciplinary approaches, implementation of scientific developments in practice;
• acquiring new knowledge and skills, using an interdisciplinary approach and integrating the achievements of different sciences, critically evaluating theory, methods and research results;
• conducting scientific enquiry using the latest research methods and techniques, and conducting research, planning, implementing and adapting applied or research projects within historical scholarship;
• use in research practice of modern software and new information technologies in accordance with the profile of the Master's programme (including for the development of thematic network resources, databases and information systems);
• creation and development of new ideas, taking into account socio-economic and cultural consequences of new phenomena in science, engineering and technology, professional sphere; preparation and holding of scientific seminars, conferences, preparation and editing of scientific publications; • making his/her own original contribution to the development of historical science, as well as expert evaluation of activities in his/her professional field, as well as in related fields.
2) in the teaching profession:
• practical use of knowledge of the basics of pedagogical activity in teaching history courses at all levels of general and vocational education;
• analysis and explanation of political, socio-cultural, economic aspects, the role of the human factor, and the civilisational component of the historical process;
• application of modern information and communication technologies in the educational process;
3) in organisational management:
• setting and solving problems related to the implementation of organisational and managerial functions, using the methods of the studied sciences and management technologies for their implementation;
• organising and optimising the work of performers, making managerial decisions;
• preparation of analytical information (taking into account the historical context) for decision- making by public administration and local self-government bodies;
• work with large databases and information systems in the implementation of organisational and managerial functions;
4) in cultural and educational activities:
• implementation of historical and cultural and local history functions in the activities of cultural organisations and institutions (archives, museums, etc.);
5) in expert analytical activities:
•development of historical and socio-political aspects in the activities of information and analytical centres, public, state and municipal institutions and media organisations.
The duration of full-time 530400 "History" Maters degree program is 2 years, and part-time - 2 years 6 months.
