Naval Architecture is a specialized field of engineering dealing with the design and construction of marine vessels and offshore structures. The MS is a two-year program consisting of 24 coursework based credit hours and 6 thesis credit hours. It offers specialized courses covering all aspects of Naval Architecture. Courses such as Marine Dynamics that include topics such as hydrostatics, seakeeping and hydro-elasticity. Marine Hydrodynamics which covers resistance and propulsion and maneuvering. Marine structures that covers structural design aspects of ships and submarines and FEA. Furthermore, the program offers supporting courses such as Advanced Marine Vehicles, CFD and Research methodologies. In addition students in their third semester undergo a rigorous ship design exercise where they work in groups to create a concept design for a maritime vessel based on real world user requirements and applications.
