The goal of the Construction Management (CM) program is to provide students with high-quality educational experiences that will develop the technical and managerial knowledge and skills necessary for successful leadership roles in the building construction industry. The CM program is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE). Owners today are demanding high-quality structures with an array of complex technological building systems. Buildings must also be affordable and often are built to aggressive schedules. Constructors need to efficiently and safely manage their labor, materials, and equipment resources. These requirements demand a highly educated construction professional who is able to manage the complexities of modern building construction. Why Study Construction Management? Construction Management is an interdisciplinary curriculum that provides students a background in construction management, administration, and technology; architectural and engineering principles; business; and applied science and mathematics. The goal of the sequence is to prepare construction professionals capable of managing projects to completion of a project from plans prepared by design professionals. Course work emphasizes the allocation and coordination of labor, equipment, and material in order to achieve completion of projects safely and at maximum efficiency of time and cost. The program focus is on production rather than design, and management capabilities rather than craft skills. Related Skills Strong communication skills The ability to converse in another language could be an asset
