History transcends mere academic discipline; it fulfills a fundamental human need. At our department, we recognize its profound significance intertwined with the very essence of humanity, rendering it inherently relevant. Through our program, we offer both theoretical and technical frameworks to critically analyze the past and professionalize its study, engaging in a constant dialogue with the present. Since our inception in 1957, we have been dedicated to shaping historians while fostering fresh intellectual inquiries across three research strands: Theory of History and Historiography, History of the Present Time, and Global History. Complemented by editorial endeavors, outreach initiatives, and a dynamic academic faculty, the majority of whom are affiliated with the National System of Researchers of Conacyt, we continue to push the boundaries of historical inquiry. Upon graduation, our students will possess the following capabilities: Conduct historical research grounded in robust theoretical and technical foundations; Engage in the review, organization, registration, and interpretation of historical documents; Develop digital projects aimed at research, preservation, dissemination, and educational purposes in history; Formulate strategies for cultural and heritage management rooted in historical knowledge; and Create pedagogical approaches tailored for teaching history across diverse educational levels, objectives, and audiences.
