Master in Citizen Security and Access to Justice

The program aims to thoroughly equip professionals to address the significant challenges posed by complex issues characterized by insecurity and violence. This goal is pursued through reflection grounded in the highest standards of citizen security and access to justice. In this manner, the program facilitates the cultivation of innovative, interdisciplinary, and practical knowledge, empowering graduates to effect change across various realms of action. It underscores the imperative to embrace new paradigms of security, moving away from punitive approaches that often undermine the protection of human rights and essential democratic principles. Given the intricate nature of contemporary societies, particularly within the context of Latin America and Mexico, the master’s program targets individuals invested in addressing issues of insecurity and violence, spanning across professional sectors such as public, private, and civil society. Through study and reflection, participants are encouraged to explore and implement pragmatic alternatives rooted, with the potential to drive political and social change towards the attainment of peace and stability. To accommodate diverse backgrounds and interests, the program offers multiple terminal pathways: 1) Public policies in citizen security, 2) Democratic reform of security and justice institutions, 3) Application of legal models to security. These pathways empower participants to engage in research projects, earn academic credentials, and integrate into their professional environments. Area of studies include: Constitutional Law and Human Rights applied to issues of Citizen Security and Access to Justice. These areas enable students to conduct applied research aimed at shaping the design, planning, execution, and assessment of public policies, legal frameworks, and institutional practices related to citizen security. Additionally, they facilitate the development of tools for enhancing access to justice.
