The Master's program is projected as a response to current problems and challenges in the Didactics of History and Social Sciences, which allows teachers and people linked to this area of ​​study, to obtain skills for the analysis of learning phenomena and teaching from the perspective of the didactics of the disciplines, and to gain expertise for the investigation of classroom practices and the projection of qualitative changes in the ways of facing disciplinary learning obstacles both in the school environment and in initial training teacher.
The focus of the Program is linked to the current challenges of teacher training in the area, represented, at an international level, by the accumulated research in the field and, at the national level, the areas of competence present in the Performance Standards for the teaching of History, Geography and Social Sciences (2012) and in the new perspectives integrated into the curriculum. From this orientation, the proposal is considered as a relevant contribution for practicing teachers, trainers of trainers and people linked to the production of disciplinary didactic knowledge through its link with public policies, initial and continuous training of teachers and development of material didactic for the area.
The meaning of the didactic research in this program is to generate explanatory theory based on the teaching and learning practices of History and Social Sciences, both in the contexts of school learning as well as in initial training. This research will be focused on the practices for the learning of History, Geography and Citizen Training as an object of study, for the understanding of the modes of disciplinary knowledge transfer and the central problems linked to school learning.
