The Doctorate in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences brings together the research and advanced training skills of the pre-existing Doctorate Schools in Chemical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Sciences, both part of the Santa Chiara High School. The Doctoral Project is aimed at the inclusion of young people in public (e.g. Universities, CNR, etc.) and private (e.g. Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Biotechnological Industries) work environments. The new Doctorate is developed in two training courses 1. Molecular Sciences 2. Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies which refer to the almost thirty-year history of the previous SDRs. The Teaching Board is unique and includes the Sectors of the CUN CHIM 03 Area present in a significant way (Chim02, Chim03, Chim06, Chim08, Chim10, Chim12) at the University of Siena. The selection of the College's teachers based on scientific quality was necessary to take into account in a balanced way the positive experience of the two previous schools and the prospects of early retirement of some. There are 4 professors from European universities in the College with whom relationships of exchange and scientific collaboration have been developed. The teachers of the College are all part of the CUN 03 area, even if the didactic and scientific typologies of the two training courses maintain some specificities that it would have been foolish not to exploit. In fact, the course in Molecular Sciences has an orientation linked to pure research, while that of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies has a more applicative orientation. Therefore, while in the training courses the first year of both is common, the characterizing elements for both teaching and research emerge in the second year and find their completion in the third with an individualization of the activity which is also expressed with the foreign experience. The SCF Doctorate aims to train highly qualified personnel for research and entry into the world of work in the chemical and pharmaceutical fields. This aim involves the involvement of SSD teachers with complementary skills in the chemical field. The second and third year educational paths include lessons not only in the chemical sector, but also in other specialist areas such as computer science or biology. Every year there is a workshop on topics transversal to the two training courses and the PhD student's day with presentation of the activities carried out in oral and/or poster form as an opportunity for socialization and integration of the scientific/educational experiences gained during the year. The Doctorate in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences will confer, like the previous ones from whose experience it derives, the title of Doctor Europaeus with the foreseen methods including the writing and discussion of the thesis in English.
