Communication is the study of how people convey information, a resource vital not only in the world of media, but in such varied fields as business, government, and human services. The communication program at WSU combines the theory and cultural context of communications with practical experience. A degree in journalism and media production prepares you for careers in multi-media journalism, broadcast journalism, and media production. You can choose one of two major focus areas: Broadcast News: WSU offers the state's only comprehensive program in broadcasting. Prepares you to create professional radio and television news packages for radio and television stations, radio and television networks, and for independent reporting organizations. Multimedia Journalism: Prepares you to write and create multimedia packages that inform, investigate, explain and interpret current issues and emerging trends in politics, sports, performing arts, and contemporary life. Practical experience and internships are built into the whole program, so you graduate with true professional experience.
