The Department of Management (DOM) started functioning under the Faculty of Commerce, as per decision of the 23rd syndicate meeting of Chittagong University in 1970. From inception, this department has been engaged in imparting knowledge on management and related subjects to the embryo-managers and thereby playing a major role in the process of human resource development in Bangladesh. This Department can be credited for pioneering Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program in the country in 1988. It has already occupied a leading position for offering most modem business education in Bangladesh. Our graduates have been found to be in high demand in the job market for their competences. It has earned international reputation in professional education and re¬search. The DOM has created opportunities for high-quality education, training and research to the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students in various functional areas of management through maintaining excellent academic environment and using highly qualified teaching re¬source and other facilities in order to make them skilled human re¬sources with a view to meeting the market demand at national and international levels effectively. The DMS offers BBA, MBA, M. Phil., Ph. D. Programs. Recently DMS has started offering MBA major in Human Resource Management (HRM) and International Management (IM). Adequate attention has been given in designing BBA & MBA curriculum so as to make the programs of international standard. The course curriculum has been designed and revised keeping in mind the ever-changing needs of the business and industry in a very competitive globalized economic environment.
