Basically, an actuary is a graduate specializing in the assessment and management of the risks borne by the different economic agents. The actuary's training allows him, among other things, to establish the solvency requirements that Insurance Entities, in particular, and Financial Entities, in general, must meet. The Master's Degree in Actuarial and Financial Sciences of the Complutense University of Madrid provides the knowledge, mainly economics, mathematics and statistics, on which the profession of actuary is based and which together constitute the core of Actuarial Science. The contents of the different subjects studied in the master's degree are based on the guidelines established in the so-called Core Syllabus of the Actuarial Consultative Group, which aims to harmonize actuarial studies throughout the European Union. Graduates of the master's degree can join the Institute of Spanish Actuaries and carry out their activity both at a national and European level. The Master's Degree in Actuarial and Financial Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid began its journey in the 2010-11 academic year, replacing the old Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial and Financial Sciences.

Admission Requirements

If you come from an EU country you must have a bachelor's degree from a Spanish university, or from a university in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).

If you are a graduate from outside the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) you can access the university without the need to officially certify your degree, once the UCM has verified that your level of studies is equivalent to a bachelor's degree at a university in Spain. Access via this route does not in any case imply the official certification of your degree prior to starting your Masters course.
