The Doctoral Program in Literary Studies, verified by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA), constitutes the Complutense University's commitment to the highest level of academic training and its fundamental objective is to train highly qualified doctors for research and innovation in the field of Literary Studies, fully integrated within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and the European Research Area (EEI). The elaboration of a doctoral thesis supposes the formal beginning of the research career of the doctoral student. It consists of an original scientific contribution in some field of literature, cultural studies or translation studies, the result of a line of work sustained over time with a clearly specified global objective. Future doctors will be able to join university teaching, research centers, cultural industry companies, archives and libraries, companies or public bodies responsible for the management and conservation of cultural heritage, etc. In all these sectors they will be trained to perform functions of the highest level.
