The field casts a broad chronological net reaching from the early centuries of C.E. up through the global, imperial 19-th century. Students in this field are encouraged to study colonialism and imperialism in a variety of geographic and chronological settings. Thus, students might study the British Empire both from Britain's perspective, but also from that of colonial North America and colonial India or China.
