The University of Nicosia pursues excellence in education through its six Schools:

(a) Business

(b) Education

(c) Humanities and Social Sciences

(d) Law, (e) Sciences and Engineering

(f) School of Medicine

Through these, the University offers a range of academic programmes of study, leading to Bachelors (4 years), Masters (12 months/2 years) and PhD Degrees - modelled on European and American higher education, and continually reviewed and updated in order to keep pace with changing trends. Several programmes are offered via Distance Learning. All programmes are taught in English, except where indicated otherwise.

Study at UNIC

It is the largest university in Southern Europe that teaches primarily in English, with particular strengths in medicine, health sciences, blockchain, law, accounting, business, architecture, international relations, education, computer science, and engineering.

Admission Requirements

Students come to UNIC from around the world, blending a diverse range of academic backgrounds, experiences, interests, talents and cultural heritage.

Admission to our University is granted under different categories, depending on the student’s qualifications and educational objectives.

Our general admissions policy relies on the student’s previous academic performance, including their high school grades. The Medical School has separate admissions policies and procedures outlined on the Medical School website.

Undergraduate Admission

The minimum admission requirement is a recognized High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC). Students with a lower HSLC grade than 7.5/10 or 15/20 or equivalent, depending on the grading system of the country issuing the HSLC, are provided with extra academic guidance and monitoring during the first year of their studies. Some programmes have higher entry requirements.

English Language Proficiency

The table below provides the minimum English Language Requirements (ELR) for enrollment to an undergraduate programme of study offered in English. Students who do not possess any of the qualifications or stipulated grades listed below and hold IELTS with 4.5 and above or equivalent, are required to take an English Placement Test and will receive English Language support classes, if and as needed.

Programmes Taught in Greek

A certain number of undergraduate programmes focused solely on Cyprus and Greece are taught in Greek. Students on these programmes are not required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements.

Undergraduate Transfer Students and Credits Earned at Other Universities

Our University welcomes transfer students from other accredited colleges and universities and accepts courses obtained from current and/or previous studies that are of the same quality and equivalency as courses offered at UNIC.

Transfer credits may correspond to specific University courses or to specific categories such as Computer Electives, Humanities Electives, etc. Transfer credits will not count towards the student’s Cumulative Point Average – CPA (overall grade). Regardless of the credits transferred, students have to complete at least one half of the number of the Bachelor’s Degree ECTS (120 ECTS for a 240 -ECTS Bachelor Degree, 150 ECTS for a 300-ECTS Bachelor Degree) and at least two thirds of the number of the Master’s Degree ECTS.

Credit from National Testing Centres

Transfer credits are awarded for A-Level, selected GCSE, LCCI, and other similar qualifications.

Postgraduate Admission

The minimum requirement for admission into a Master’s degree programme is a Bachelors Degree from a recognized/accredited college or university. In addition to the minimum requirements, special admission requirements may apply for various departments. Please consult the website for an updated list of specific requirements. Further, students applying from selected countries may be required to have additional qualifications. The Admissions Department will guide all applicants throughout the admission process.

UNIC’s modern campus is situated amid the urban landscape in the bustling suburb of Engomi in Nicosia. 

Over the last few years, we have invested over €100 million in our campus infrastructure. The expansive layout of our campus allows us to provide specialised facilities to support each academic department. 

The whole neighbourhood is oriented towards student life, allowing for a unique social experience, characterised by community interaction, diversity, learning and fun. In addition to the teaching facilities, the campus provides a full set of student amenities and support services. Our use of the latest technology in curriculum delivery to inspire and support learning, combined with our drive for pedagogical advancement, makes UNIC an innovative place to study.

UNIC Residences

The University of Nicosia’s official student residences redefine modern student living. They consist of three separate complexes – SIX, U and TRIANGLE – which are among the most stunning student accommodations ever constructed in Europe.

UNIC Residences provide a multitude of dining, relaxing and entertainment options for residents, including restaurants and cafes, gyms, TV rooms, games areas and more.

Located in the upscale neighbourhood of Engomi, in Nicosia, the residences are surrounded by UNIC’s vibrant, urban campus that is home to more than 70 restaurants, coffee shops, pubs and bars, all within walking distance.

Many of our graduates are making a global impact in a variety of professions, across many sectors. They have gone on to work in renowned multinational companies, in Cyprus and also in their respective home countries, or have succeeded in launching successful businesses of their own in a variety of exciting industries.

These graduates include the first specialists in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, who after graduating from our MSc in Digital Currency (the first full academic programme in this field), have become sought-after candidates worldwide.
