Seawater or freshwater fish are the source of many human diseases: ranging from simple traumatic digestive perforations through the bones, to different forms of allergies on ecology, its origin, its mode of preservation and preparation are the main determinants and bacterial or parasitic infections, poisoning (example: ciguatera, tetradotoxine) and envenimations (example: stone fish, alive). Knowledge of the fish species, risk of infection and pathogen.
The interest of this formation is to understand the mechanisms of infestation of fish by dominant parasites by integrating the spatial and temporal variability of the latter. This may prove to be a management and prevention tool in order to avoid any loss due to pathogens and thus eliminate any risk that could lead to disastrous economic consequences. The consequences of fish pathologies on the fisheriessector are multiple - economic, social and environmental - such as the threat to foodsecurity of fish-dependentsocieties, loss of living resources and biodiversity, healthproblems (caused by contaminatedseafood).
The information that this doctoral course will provide on the health status of fish resources is an essential source of information for measuring the country’s blue growth, it will contribute to the development and implementation of a programme on the sustainability of fisheries and aquaculture, livelihoods, food systems and economic growth generated by aquatic ecosystem services. In addition, it will target the diagnosis of aquatic resources that are subject to increasing use requiring strengthening the governance of aquatic ecosystems and thus exacerbating the many vulnerable coastal communities that depend on fishing and whose ecosystems are already under pressure from pollution, habitat degradation, overfishing, and various other harmful practices.
