The Topographical Engineering Academic Program was created in 1994 through Resolution 108 of the Academic Council, which is attached to the School of Civil and Geomatics Engineering, and this in turn to the Faculty of Engineering. The Program was registered with the National System of Information on Higher Education-SNIES in November 1997 with the registration number 120349100027600111500 and currently the number has changed to 5004. The original curriculum of the Topographic Engineering Academic Program has been subject to adjustments and improvements obeying guidelines for the improvement of professional performance, whose modifications were adopted by means of Resolution 088 of 1998 of the Academic Council. Eventually once again adopting processes and products that the technical-scientific evolution has arranged to facilitate many of the activities that are carried out both in the Program and in the graduate's working life, an additional modification of the curriculum is made, which is officially presented through Resolution 068 of the Academic Council on June 6, 2002, taking advantage of the restructuring of the Faculty of Engineering in the process of modernizing the Academic Programs; this last resolution is currently in force. At the time, the Program obtained the Qualified Registry through Resolution 2398 of May 20, 2005 of the Ministry of National Education, valid for seven (7) years. In mid-2010, the Program was presented to the National Accreditation Council (CNA) to obtain the High Quality Qualified Registry, which was granted for four (4) years. The result of the self-assessment process in 2010 was 75.3%, acknowledging that the program satisfactorily complies with the factors, characteristics and aspects evaluated in its high-quality process based on current guidelines at the time.
