The purpose of the History Academic Program is the knowledge of History and the development of sensitivities, abilities and capacities of the discipline, which allow the solution of problems or the analysis of particular situations of a disciplinary, interdisciplinary or professional nature, through the assimilation o appropriation of knowledge, methodologies and scientific, technological or artistic developments that allow reaching the goal of training historians with solid theoretical, conceptual, methodological and analytical foundations of the discipline, that can be articulated with the other fields of scientific knowledge, and that are able to apply them in formative research,to obtain the title of Historian.
The History program has focused on providing an internationally recognized training of excellence, which has allowed its graduates to fully exercise professional functions and skills, maintaining a vocation of service to the community, cultural protagonism and citizen empowerment.
Bearing in mind that Universidad del Valle has as a policy the permanent review of the curricula of its academic programs to update them, not only in terms of new knowledge, but also in terms of the offerings of the academic units, the academic program of History is in process update through curricular reform, which will come into effect soon.
