Bachelor's Program in Epidemiology

The Department of Epidemiology was established immediately after the founding of the College of Public Health and Health Informatics in 1997 2013 It is considered one of the first specialized departments in epidemiology to be established in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The department began working directly to develop the bachelor’s program in epidemiology in line with the Kingdom’s vision. 2030 One of its goals is to combat diseases, improve health conditions, and improve the quality of life in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The department began accepting the first batch of students in the 2014 academic year. The Department of Epidemiology includes faculty members specialized in various fields of epidemiology.
Epidemiology is a basic medical science that aims to improve the health of society by paying attention to the causes of diseases and determining ways to prevent them. The important role of epidemiology is the extensive use of epidemiological methods, concepts and information in preparing, updating, monitoring and evaluating field work. Epidemiology also provides information that contributes to directing public health work. If we look at the medical model: to provide treatment for the patient, the doctor calls on his experience, creativity, and scientific knowledge. Likewise, the epidemiologist uses the descriptive and analytical scientific method to diagnose community health. However, he must call on his experience and creativity when planning how to control and prevent diseases in society.
