Our Occupational Therapy course will give you the skills and experience to launch a rewarding career in this diverse and essential profession.
Occupational therapists work to empower people to develop, maintain or improve a diverse range of activities that are relevant and meaningful in their daily lives, from basic self-care at home to work-related activities, hobbies and more.  Throughout this integrated course, you will learn the skills to help people overcome difficulties caused by illness, disability, accidents or ageing.  This could involve the use of aids and adaptations, modifying tasks or developing new skills.  
The course follows a spiral design based around 5 key curriculum themes to help you develop the knowledge, skills, understanding and confidence required to be eligible to apply to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) to become a registered occupational therapist:
  • Occupational Concepts for Well Being and Practice
  • Enhancing Occupational Therapy
  • Practice Placement
  • Professionalism and Leadership
  • Research, Enquiry & Digitalisation

Admission requirements

Undergraduate

7+
A-Level: Minimum BBB. Health or science-related courses are desirable.
Access to Higher Education Diploma: 60 credits overall with at least 45 at level 3 and 15 at level 2. Of the 45 credits at level 3, you will need a minimum of 24 distinctions, a minimum of 18 merits and a maximum of 3 passes
BTEC: DDD
Welsh BACC: B and BB at A level or DD at BTEC
Irish Leaving Certificate: 360
GCSEs: At least five GCSEs at A-C grade, these must include Welsh/English Language, Mathematics and a Physical Science or Double Award Science.
IELTS: Level 7 with no component less than 6.5 (For applicants who have gained their entry qualifications outside the UK)
For non-standard applicants: It is recognised that individuals without formal qualifications may have relevant experience and knowledge.
Recognition of Prior Learning: Applications will be considered on an individual basis. As a University, we also have a recognition of prior learning policy to support widening access aims.

At postgraduate level, entry requirements include at least a 2.2 degree (or any foreign equivalent) and for all non-native speakers, a 6.5 IELTS with at least a 6.0 in all sections.
