Programme Overview The Quantity Surveying program at SEGi University aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the field, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills. The curriculum spans three years and is structured to cover a wide range of subjects, progressively building expertise in Quantity Surveying and related areas.
In the first year, students establish a strong foundation with courses such as Building Construction I, Construction Materials, Management of the Built Environment, and Basic Architectural and Engineering Design. They also delve into subjects like Building Services, Introduction to Measurement of Building Works, Construction Law, Geomatic Engineering, Principle of Economics, and Building Construction II.
The second year introduces students to more specialised topics, including Quantity Surveying Practice, Measurement of Building Works, Construction Contract Law, Tendering and Estimating, and Construction Economics. Additionally, students explore Civil and Infrastructures Construction Works, Business Ethics, Academic Research, and Information Computer Technology (ICT).
In the final year, the programme delves deeper into advanced topics, including Measurement of Civil Engineering Works, Construction and Project Management, Data Analysis and Statistics, Value Engineering and Management, and Financial Commercial Management. Students also undertake a dissertation, showcasing their research capabilities, and engage in industrial training for six months, a valuable real-world experience that must be completed before the final semester.
