Drexel University's PhD in Clinical Psychology trains clinical psychologists in the scientist-practitioner model. This model places roughly equal emphasis on clinical research and the application of scientific principles, with an emphasis on the integration of psychological science and practice. Students receive an appropriate, broad education in preparation for entry-level practice in professional psychology. This education includes training in intervention and assessment, as well as an introduction to the science and practice of clinical psychology. The program is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). Clinical Neuropsychology offers specialty training through didactic, research and clinical experiences designed to prepare students for professional practice in neuropsychology. The program also follows the recommendations of the Houston Conference guidelines.* This training incorporates advanced knowledge of brain-behavior relationships and neuropsychological conceptualizations with traditional clinical conceptualizations, providing students with a wider perspective on the range of human function and disability. Students develop skills in the scientific study and application of psychological assessment and intervention for problems encountered by people with brain injury or illness. Students are also able to pursue specific interests within the specialty in the areas of geriatrics, pediatrics, traumatic brain injury and rehabilitation. In addition to the core curriculum, the program includes: One neuropsychology practicum A neuropsychology-focused thesis and dissertation Required courses: Neuroanatomical and Behavior, Neuropsychological Assessment and Case Analysis and Integration Two additional electives from: Cognitive Neuroscience, Rehabilitation Psychology, Neuroimaging and Physiology of Behavior, Learning and Memory, Neuropsychological Evaluation and Intervention of Children and Adolescents
