Drexel University's PhD in Clinical Psychology trains clinical psychologists in the scientist-practitioner model. This model places roughly equal emphasis on clinical research and the application of scientific principles, with an emphasis on the integration of psychological science and practice. Students receive an appropriate, broad education in preparation for entry-level practice in professional psychology. This education includes training in intervention and assessment, as well as an introduction to the science and practice of clinical psychology. The program is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). The clinical child psychology major area of study is designed for students who have strong clinical and/or research interests in working with children and adolescents. Students in this major area of study will complete the required courses taken by all clinical psychology students and will also enroll in child-related elective courses designed to help them develop a greater degree of expertise in working with child and adolescent populations. It is expected that students completing this specialization will develop an appreciation of the research literature in the clinical child area and will possess specialty skills that enable them to function as competent practitioners in the child/ adolescent area upon graduation. In addition to the core curriculum, the program includes: One pediatric / child / or adolescent practicum A child psychology-focused thesis and dissertation Required courses: Child Psychopathology, Pediatric Psychology, Neuropsychological evaluation and intervention of children and adolescents Two additional electives from: Family Therapy, Special Topics in Health, Rehabilitation Psychology, Neuroanatomical and Behavior, Neuropsychological Assessment, Case Analysis and Integration

Acceptance for graduate study at Drexel University requires a four-year bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or an equivalent international institution. Although admission requirements vary by program, regular acceptance typically requires a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (B) for the last two years of undergraduate work.
