Notable Undergraduate Programs    

• Game Programming: In partnership with Niagara College, this degree/diploma program connects students with industry and academic experts to develop skills in creating engaging video games, preparing them for dynamic careers in the gaming industry 
• Sport Management: Ranked first in Canada for university sport management research contributions around the world, this bachelor’s program combines classroom learning with fieldwork , preparing students for careers in sport management, marketing, public relations, and event management. Graduates often find roles with professional sports leagues or international sporting events.   

• Kinesiology: This program is well-known Worldwide for its high-quality research and excellent teaching of all aspects of human movement and sports science. The department continues to be ranked in the top 100 Kinesiology departments (i.e., Exercise and Sports Science) in the QS World University Rankings. This places us behind only 8 other Kinesiology departments in Canada (4 in Ontario) and ahead of the many other departments in the country. This reflects the excellent research output of our faculty members whose publications collectively generate almost 100,000 citations.    

• Business Administration, Co-op International Dual Degree: Graduates earn a bachelor of business administration from Brock as well as a second degree from a partner school in Ireland, Germany or France.    

• Integrated Engineering: This specialized program uniquely integrates multiple engineering sub-fields, ensuring that students develop a versatile skill set. This approach not only addresses emerging challenges in big data, artificial intelligence, bioengineering, medical devices, sustainability, climate change, robotics, automation, manufacturing, and transportation but also ensures that graduates possess highly transferable skills applicable across the entire engineering sector, preparing them for a wide range of careers in various engineering disciplines.    

• Applied Health Oriented Fields: Brock’s Department of Health Sciences   offers innovative programs that equip students to tackle current health challenges. Through an interdisciplinary approach that combines biosciences, social sciences, statistical sciences, and humanities, students are prepared to enhance health at local, national, and global levels through research and experiential education.   

• Nursing Department: Brock’s Nursing program is known for its rigorous curriculum and integration of classroom learning with hands-on lab and clinical practice. By engaging students in hospital and community settings, the program ensures graduates are well-prepared with the knowledge and skills needed to excel as healthcare leaders in Niagara and beyond.

Several of Brock’s faculty are consistently included in Stanford University’s list of the world’s top two per cent of scientists. Further, as part of our Strategic Research Plan , Brock University has identified five key research themes that showcase our strengths and institutional focus. Each theme builds on our existing capacity through established research centres , institutes, and transdisciplinary hubs, along with collaborations with community and industry partners and state-of-the-art research facilities:    

1. 1. Cognition, Creativity, and Culture : This theme explores the interplay of thought, culture, and creativity through artistic expression, neuroscience, and material culture analysis. Research includes areas like animal cognition and posthumanist philosophy. Notable Brock initiatives include the   Digital Humanities Lab ,   Centre for Neuroscience ,   Posthumanism Research Institute , and the   Brain and Language Lab , alongside collaborations with the   First Ontario Performing Arts Centre   and   Six Nations Polytechnic Institute .   
   2. Health, Sport, and Performance Across the Lifespan : This theme addresses various health-related issues, including chronic conditions and the benefits of physical activity. Research emphasizes a transdisciplinary approach integrating biological and social factors. Notable Brock initiatives include the   Brock–Niagara Centre for Health and Well-Being ,   Centre for Lifespan Development Research , and   Environmental Ergonomics Laboratory . Partnerships with regional health providers and organizations like the   2021 Canada Summer Games   enhance practical applications of research.   
   3. Society, Well-Being, and Social Change : This theme examines governance, democratic processes, and determinants of mental health in a changing society. It focuses on evidence-based analysis for policy development. Notable Brock initiatives include the   Centre for Business Analytics ,   Niagara Community Observatory , and the   Social Justice Research Institute . Collaborations with local agencies such as the   Niagara Parks Commission   and   Alzheimer's support networks   support impactful research outcomes.   
   4. Environment, Bioproducts, and Physical Systems : Drawing on its unique location, Brock researches environmental systems and agriculture, particularly viticulture. Notable Brock initiatives include the   Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI) ,   Environmental Sustainability Research Centre , and   Advanced Biomanufacturing Centre . Partnerships with local industries, including the   Ontario Grape and Wine Growers   and the cannabis industry, support innovation in bioproducts and sustainable practices.   
   5. Computation, Analysis, and Data : This theme addresses the challenges of a data-rich world through computational methods and analytics. Brock aims to enhance research capacity in data management and visualization. Notable Brock initiatives include the   Brock Institute for Scientific Computing ,   Centre for Business Analytics , and the   Digital Scholarship Lab . Partnerships with organizations like   SHARC-Net   and local businesses help apply data analysis to real-world challenges.
