Economists are central players in setting government policy — from social programs to economic development. In the private sector, they contribute to market research for new products, evaluate the impact of mergers, and assess tax policy. This major is particularly ideal for those who are interested in human resources, the environment, international development, international financial markets, or money and banking, you might consider a major in Economics. The Sobey School of Business is AACSB-Accredited. In addition to all other requirements for a major, a minimum GPA of 3.0 is required at the end of Year 2, and maintain this minimum GPA until graduation. Students must make application for admission to the Honours program on the special form obtainable from the Registrar no later than the last day of registration at the beginning of Year 3. They must obtain the approval of the Chairperson of the Economics Department and the Dean of Sobey School of Business.
